Help the leatherback turtles in Costa Rica
by Isabelle Jones, your Atenas real estate specialist
Give something back to Costa Rica and volunteer to help the Tortugas on the Carribean side of Costa Rica. Another turtle season on the Carribean….and “TORTUGAS” begins tours to Estacion Las Tortugas (ELT) in March. The season runs through June.
The most endangered-of-extinction sea turtle, the Leatherback, seems to be holding its own in the Atlantic Ocean due, in part, to the work of the staff at ELT. They are led by Stanley Rodriguez Mendez, and family.
Julie and Paul Wagner have been leading small groups to Estacion LasTortugas/ ELT since 2007. They live in Atenas, Costa Rica (moved here from Oregon) since 2005.
Once again, Paul and Julie will guide groups in March, May and June. They have a lifetime of hiking and outdoor experience. Paul has traveled around the world. Julie, an avid gardener, has a special interest in the flora and fauna at Estacion Las Tortugas.
Long-time members of the Sierra Club, this will be their fourth year traveling to help the staff at Estacion Las Tortugas. Having participated in the past on one of their “Tortuga” trips, Paul/Julie make this worthwhile excursion tons of fun and adventure with their enthusiasm and knowledge.
You can call Paul or Julie with questions or to schedule your trip at 2446-3069.
