Build a pool
If you decide to buy a house in Atenas without a pool, you might decide you want a pool in a few years. If you have a backyard that is large enough, you can build a pool. A nice in-ground pool, with deck, pumps, filter, and everything, will cost you around $30,000 depending on how large and deep you want it to be.
Doesn’t anything in inventory satisfy your requirements? At GoDutch, we offer some amazing building lots in gated communities and single family home sites for sale. There are great architects in Costa Rica who will walk you through the steps of building a custom house with a pool.
On a budget
Are you on a really low budget? Then you can also buy a fiberglass pool, which is much cheaper but not so fancy. I have never seen any large above ground pools in Costa Rica but you can buy a Steel Pro Frame Pool Set for around $150 on Amazon.
You only need a backyard of like 150 m2 (1,650 ft2) to be able to fit a decent sized pool. Of course, that won’t be enough to fit an Olympic size pool and a lap pool will be a tight fit. If you decide on a condo with a tiny backyard, you can always fit an inflatable pool or a Jacuzzi.
